At one time the United States preached the concept of \u201cSpreading Democracy,\u201d to all corners of the earth; nevertheless, the results ended in colonialism and imperialism of indigenous lands and peoples and the exploitation of their natural resources and tragically the enslavement and genocide of millions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea behind \u201cSpreading Democracy,\u201d was to teach other lands to adopt American values and traditions, economic and cultural policies so both countries can have an allied relationship. In reality, the concept was to whitewash other nations which made it easier to bring them under subjection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just in the past 20 years, however, other countries have peeped out the scam and decided to buck against the US doctrine of Democracy, seeing they have gotten to short end of the economic and cultural stick. Lands have been bombed, robbed, and turned into cultural cesspools of cultural pollution and political corruption, just like in the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an alternative of Democracy, other countries have built themselves around a more controlled political and cultural system of authoritarianism and nationalism, by which they depend on a leader to restore their sovereignty as a nation, independent of US policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a report from Axios<\/a>, \u201cInternational Trump support reflects a global phenomenon: The hard right, once fringe, is gaining power and popularity across Europe, Latin America and elsewhere. Immigration, inflation and the rising cost of climate policy are creating potent new targets for populism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Europe, nationalist or far-right parties are growing in Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Poland, and even Finland and Sweden. Newish democracies “that for decades lacked big nationalist parties \u2014 Portugal, Romania and Spain \u2014 now have them,” the Economist adds. Right-wing populists have made inroads in Chile, Paraguay and El Salvador, often with tough-on-crime messages.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many factors contribute to this change in international politics, including the migration of indigenous peoples from their countries into more financially stable nations of the West, where they can escape poverty, internal feuds within their own governments, climate changes and further exploitation of the resources by the same western nations they escape to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, though authoritarian movements persist, \u201cRight-wing populists have lost<\/a> \u2014 most notably former President Trump in the U.S., right-wing leader Marine Le Pen in France and Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil. But the global phenomenon doesn’t appear to be ebbing.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the US wants to maintain a pro-Democracy stance on the world stage, they will have to bring their own country under control and back to its Democratic roots. Unfortunately, as long as there is division and political corruption in the US, there will be division and a continuous rise of authoritarian movements around the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
