In a sad attempt to empower racism, a growing number of whites are deliberately misinterpreting Martin Luther King\u2019s \u201cI Have a Dream,\u201d speech to justify dismantling Civil Rights era laws and gaslighting the public into believing King meant one thing when he absolutely said another. Most Blacks and culturally enlightened whites understand the speech for what it actually meant on the bases of common sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

King is quoted as saying, \u201cI have a dream<\/em><\/strong><\/a> that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.\u201d This one phrase has been taken to mean, \u201cthat an individual\u2019s skin color should not be used to help, or harm, them in their life\u2019s endeavors,\u201d Says Legal activist Edward Blum, who took his fight for equality all the way to the Supreme Court where he was the legal strategist behind Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College, the case that dismantled affirmative action in college admissions.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People who interpret the quote this way apparently did not read the entire speech to get the complete context. He was not arguing that Blacks should not be helped because of their skin color, quite the contrary. He was arguing that Blacks should not be harmed because of their skin color. To help Blacks is to stop the harm. Common sense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is even a bothsidesism argument in the media<\/em><\/strong><\/a> mixing some confusion as to the true meaning of the quote. This is also a sad attempt by a racist system to dumb down the public. There is only one truth, two views cannot be right, one has to be wrong and a lie. Only common sense and a snapshot of reality will help a normal person to breakthrough the misinformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, today\u2019s white politicians who hold tight to a form of a twisted conspiracy of a \u201cReplacement Theory,\u201d and reverse racism claims, are gaslighting the public. Hoping to disillusion them into believing that MLK and the meaning of his speech is voicing descent to what is basic civil and equal treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Affirmative Action was the solution to discrimination in schools, especially after segregation was dismantled. White schools, including colleges, were not allowing Blacks into their schools simply because they were Black. Character did not matter, as it does not today during vetting of qualifications. It was and always has been about skin color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many whites will swear to God that they are not racist and they do not care about the color of people\u2019s skin, but present-day actions tell a different story. White kids are yelling the N-word at school sporting events and politicians are writing laws that disannul the many Civil Rights laws on the books, claiming they are not needed because racism does not exist. That is a bold-face lie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Logic and reason escape many white minds when truth comes to the light. Blacks have never asked for special treatment based on law; the laws were written out of the guilt of the white mind because character cannot be regulated by law. Character is governed by human conscience, which have not been present in whites from the start of this country. If the laws were needed, it is because whites cannot control their character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As explained by King\u2019s daughter, \u201cPeople using \u2018not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character\u2019 to deter discussion of, teaching about, and protest against racism are not students of the comprehensive MLK\u2026My father\u2019s dream and work included eradicating racism, not ignoring it. Instead, the \u201cI Have a Dream\u201d quote, Martin said, has been repeatedly repurposed \u201cas a quote to call for the dismantling of various mechanisms that were intended to bring about a more equitable society.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
