They believe as the conservative party believes where it pertains to the government’s obligation to the public and overreach into our daily lives. They believe that the government should not provide programs for low-income people and those people should pull themselves up by their own bootstraps.

They believe that the government should not provide free to low-cost healthcare – that people should rely on the healing power of Christ and the pastors. They believe that no one should get food stamps from the government budget, financial assistance for children and families, and that public education is not the responsibility of the government. They believe children should be educated at home by their parents on personal values from biblical standards.

However, they do believe that if at all, biblical lessons should be implemented into the school system. But you cannot have both. Either educate kids at home with their parents and leave the bible out of schools, or leave the value system to the schools using the bible. They cannot seem to make up their mind which is best.

They believe that women should stay home with their families and the men should work, but at the same time they want workers in the workforce without giving them family leave when they birth children, or pay men enough to provide for a family of four. Again, you cannot have both. Ironically, the reason they have no problem with women working is because women are the church’s tithing base. If they lose women to the home life, they lose their tithing profits. So, there is never an honest argument by the church about keeping women at home.

Conservative Christians believe that the government should only serve to protect the country from foreign enemies, domestic criminals, and ungodly forces. Yet they never define how the church would supplement the other social issues that plague the country. Such as racism and human rights, gun violence, drug use, poverty and homelessness, domestic violence or unruly children. If they believe the government has only one job, then how will the church help in other matters?

The parable of the talents, from St. Matthew 25 tells this story perfectly. “For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.” Mat. 25:14-30. The story tells of a man who trusted his servants to distribute his goods and to increase them. Two of them did increase his goods but one did not. Instead, he hid the goods believing that the man would reap the increase naturally on his own, so he did nothing. When the man returned to gather his increase, he chastised the one who hid the goods and told him he should have given his goods to the bank to draw interest instead of hiding them.

The one who hid the goods said, “I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth.” Notice he was afraid. Meaning, he had fear, and no faith in himself and no faith that the man’s goods would increase. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7. His problem was he lacked faith. “His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant” Mat. 25: 26.

The church today is like unto the man who hid the goods. They lack faith in the power of God and have become slothful. They have become lazy in labor and have sold out to the riches of the world and neglected the faith in God to trust in their mission. They trust more in the government power than in God and they would rather distribute the goods using government power. They trust more in capitalism and its power than the power of God. They could have made an increase by taking care of themselves and those around them while the government was neglecting those in society.

Instead, they condemn people who depend on the government yet the people cannot depend on the church to deliver the goods. They keep the goods for themselves and grow the church and the riches of the pastors while neglecting the mission of God toward the members and the community around them. The church should be doing the job of the government if they feel the government is not responsible for the well-being of the public. This is the liberation of the gospel.

If the government is not helping the poor, and the church believe people should not depend on government, then the church should take their place and help the poor. Provide them jobs, provide assistance to women who have children, educate the children at home about the bible and not depend on schools, but trust in schools to educate in academics such as sciences, history, mathematics and other general basics of reading and writing. Unless the church wants that responsibility also.

The church should provide marriage counseling instead of the courts determining who should have possession of assets and children after a marriage is dissolved. They should help in depression, drug use, delinquency, sexual immorality, financial literacy and other social issues in the world. If they believe the government should not be involved in our daily lives, they should take responsibility for the public’s lives themselves.

The political beliefs of the Christian Church are immersed in conservative theory and capitalist practice.
