The coming decade in the United States could be facing an economic depression it has not seen since the early 30s and 40s. A new gilded age is being ushered in under the greed of the wealthy class elites who are downsizing the workforce and elevating AI, robotics, and a new digital currency system. All to the demise of the working-class family.
Regardless of race, many will find themselves resorting to a tribal-type survival of the fittest. Gone are the days of the American dream; getting a degree that will establish a career; buying that home in the country or suburbs, and raising a family and living your best life. We are going to be faced with simple survival in a new age of economic downturn and the reversal of traditional values.
Seeing we are faced with this sudden change in life as we know it, we are also faced with an extreme rise of white supremacist threats along side the oppression of the wealthy on a scale not seen since reconstruction. Not only is resistance a necessity, but adaptation to this economic reversal is badly needed. Below are a few skill-sets that can help in overcoming this shift in humanity.
During times of economic struggle, certain careers tend to be in higher demand as they provide essential services or products that people need. Black America has been targeted by the current administration as well as Hispanic Americans and even working-class white Americans have been blindsided by this sudden change in economic conditions.
Home healthcare consulting, community clinics, drug addiction and mental health services will be needed to address the increase of the downtrodden. Because of the Big Beautiful Bill cuts to social safety net programs, including, elderly nursing home patients, Vets, and the potential closing of nursing homes and rural hospitals throughout the country, families will need help.
Those with medical skills can help many people whose family members are affected. Consulting is the road into this area for those who are licensed or who have experience. Nurses, nursing aids, LPNs, pharmacists, and others can contribute to helping people who lose their Medicaid and some Medicare benefits.
Transportation services, and meals for the elderly, the homeless, and struggling families. Transporting people from point A to point B is helpful; cooking and distributing meals to people as a supplement for the lost of food-stamp benefits and new born assistance.
Growing food and food farms, land purchases, organized farmer’s markets, and opening neighborhood food banks will all be needed to help feed many. Meal preparation and delivery all come under this service.
Moving and home scale-down services. Many people will have to relocate from their homes after job loss and economic troubles with their banks and landlords, also the lack of help after natural disasters. Helping to relocate those in need will be a helpful service. Resources will also be needed as to where they can move to, which requires research and networking with community groups and other organizations.
Child care, tutoring and education will also be in high demand seeing changes in household and job choice will move fast. Private home schools and care centers, tutoring and community schools will be needed after the closing of Department of education and limited access to private school vouchers.
Computer and technical support of online schooling and remote work will also be in demand. Helping keep computer systems running and training the jobless, elderly and children in the newest technology will increase because of the end of federal assistance to community organizations.
Research and fact finders, reporters, videographers, and photographers will be needed to record and document all things happening in the community and stored for historical record. Information coming from mainstream media will not be reliable in the future of this authoritarian takeover of the country.
Recruiting and fund raising. The way to pay for and raise money for these endeavors is to organize non-profit or community groups for recruiting and fund raising. Launch GoFundMe and collective platforms that will fund most of the needs each community will need.
Other means of raising money. All is not lost since the Federal Government started to withhold funds from non-profit and AID organizations. The wealthy does not own all the wealth, only a portion. There are many rich and generous people who have not compromised their values and are still willing to contribute to the plight of the poor and needy. Angel investors and other charitable organizations are still willing to help. Contact some to inquire.
Besides the above services, labor skills will also remain in need such as heating and air maintenance, home repair, plumbing, auto repair, house cleaning services and other skilled fields. Though more people will be unable to afford high-cost services, helping people in need is a reward of its own and will be needed much more in the future.
