Love Not the World: Christian Finances, Education and Political Beliefs
When we once strove to succeed in life by getting a good education to get a good paying job to buy property, nice cars and clothes, those who understand their deliverance will not set those things as priorities any longer.
Of the most powerful deliverances a person can experience after receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost is being set free from the bondage of the world. Once a person has entered the Kingdom of God by the Spirit, nothing else in the world matters like it once did.
Careers, educational degrees and goals, and the petty differences of people’s political beliefs drop to lower levels of concern; and they all give way to the excellency and power of the gospel of Christ. After receiving the Holy Ghost, a person is transformed into another dimension of being as the mind becomes illuminated from the things of the world.
“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:15, 16.
This above scripture confirms that the love of God overshadows all the things the world has to offer, and if anyone claims to be born again with the gift of the Holy Ghost, but they continue to value the things of the world, it is questionable whether they are truly saved because the Lord says that once he chooses someone for the work of the gospel, he has pulled them out of the world and broken the yokes that hold them. And by the love and power of God, they are delivered.
“If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” John 15:19.
When we once strove to succeed in life by getting a good education to get a good paying job to buy property, nice cars and clothes, those who understand their deliverance will not set those things as priorities any longer. They throw off the stress and material prestige and live by faith in the providing ability of the Lord. They become low maintenance and practical.
A car is a car, a home is a home, whether purchased or rented, and the Lord teaches His people the things they need to know the survive in life instead of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to be indoctrinated by man’s worldly knowledge through books and academics. If God wants you to have a business for him, he will make a way. If he wants you to have a home in a certain area, He will also make a way. If it is His will that you wear the cheapest clothes, neither matters because it is God’s will for your life.
Paul said: “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,” Philippians 3:7, 8.
The problems of the world are problems created by the world itself. God has a plan for humanity and all believers, that does not need the same solutions offered by man’s financial solutions or political policies. Hunger, poverty, violence, crime, and corruption are not the makings of God, but of the incompetence of man. However, God’s children are delivered through understanding that faith and obedience to God takes away the stresses of the world and protects them from the evils.
We should not be in debt like the world; the scripture says, “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.” Romans 13:8. We do not need credit cards, bank mortgages and college loans if we lived according to faith in the Lord. He can provide all things without going into debt.
We cannot change the behaviors of people by legal means, laws, and political policies so there is no need to get too involved in man’s political system to the point we forget about God. The system is built by the rich who are controlled by the prince of the world, which is Satan. He is the only one who can distract people from keeping their eyes on God’s plan, using material things.
The things of the world, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life are deceitful and will choke the faith of God out of anyone who remains dedicated to the world. Believers must draw back from the world and pray until God has given them a ministry of His choosing. Despite what men say, money is not the answer to everything, because it only answers to the things of the world.
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19. Understanding the difference between the things of the world and the things of God takes trust in God and His promises in the word. The earth and all things in it belong to the Lord, and he takes pleasure in giving those things to His children.
