The Light of Truth Shed on the Baptism of Denzel Washington
Denzel may have been baptized with good intensions and a pure heart, but God always leads His sheep in the right direction.
We must shine the light on this honorable deed and dispel the myths of darkness. Many are celebrating the baptism of Denzel Washington by the C.O.G.I.C., and find inspiration in a celebrity dedicating his life to the Lord. But this celebration is under a false pretense because the baptism was not done correctly or performed according to the bible or the apostle’s doctrine.
This deed is going to give legitimacy to the triune method of baptism, through the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, instead of baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and will further divide the church in doctrine. This is going to cause many people to go through the wrong door and not find the Kingdom of God because of misinterpretation of the scriptures.
The devil has struck a hard blow against the truth because he knows people love to emulate celebrities and are influenced by trends. However, this misinterpretation of God’s word has been the cause of Christian division for many years, as to what name should believers be baptized in; the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost? Or in the name of Jesus Christ.
Many will not see the difference or not consider it to be a thing of relevance to salvation, but there is a major difference and will cause some to go the way of the road to destruction because they did not follow the true doctrine.
Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.” St. John 10 1,2.
He also said, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” St. Matthew 7:13, 14.
Jesus laid the path to the Kingdom of Heaven in many parables and instructions given to the disciples before, and after He departed the earth. Through revelation of the Holy Ghost, the Lord instructed the apostles to do things a certain way, that He himself ordained. And he warned the apostles that false prophets will enter in and try to change or alter His instructions.
To this Jesus said, “Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.” St. John 10:7.
As said, many people will just assume that there is no problem with the words spoken during such a deed as baptism, and people will even ask if done in the wrong name, will people still go to hell. The scripture warns us that narrow is the way to the Kingdom and many will not find it, but only through the door of the shepherd can they enter.
The apostles baptized according to the inspiration and revelation of the Holy Ghost, which was to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ, instead of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The scripture follows up by saying, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” Colossians 3:17.
Throughout the book of Acts, the apostles baptized people in the name of Jesus Christ and never in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. This is what the Spirit instructed them to do. There is a debate as to why they used Jesus name instead of the “triune” name given by Jesus in St. Matthew 28:19. But again, many people find no wrong in using those words instead of the name of Jesus.
When Paul ran across some believers in the book of Acts, he asked, “And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Acts 19:3-5.
We cannot know if the Lord will send people to hell because they were not baptized according to the word and instruction of the Holy Ghost, but we must stay the path of Jesus and be safe rather than sorry. We are to obey the inspiration of the Holy Ghost and not men’s doctrines, and we must always pray for spiritual discernment and truth when worshipping the Lord.
Denzel may have been baptized with good intensions and a pure heart, but God always leads His sheep in the right direction. Let us pray that God leads him down the path of righteousness and through the door of the shepherd and not allow him to come in anther way. Please read, "Do What Jesus Say Do to Get Saved."
