The Devil is a Homewrecker, But God is a Protector

There are two schools of thought behind the family unit that the Bible reveals. The first is the original structure of the family from the garden of Eden. God put male and female together and told them to be fruitful and multiply. This is the blueprint for life, marriage, family and the generations of nations throughout the world.

From the beginning, the devil despised the family union of God and disrupted it with deception, death by murder, jealousy and lies, all caused the first family to dissolve, all instituted by the envy of Satan. But despite his attempts, the family unit and concept remained resilient throughout generations unto this day.

However, Satan has never stopped corrupting the family unit. He caused confusion in the lives of Kings, Rulers, and leaders of nations to the point that God himself divorced His first-born child and spiritual wife, Israel. Yet He established a New Covenant to strengthen the family unit through the faith of His Son, Jesus Christ and the institution of the Church, His new bride.

The dedication to this promise manifested through the strength of the love for His son by individuals who chose to follow Christ. It was meant to strengthen the family from the point of salvation despite the troubles of the world and the deception of Satan. Jesus said that a person must love him more than they loved their own earthly family members and that their family members would become their foes. But He promised a new family in the spirit.

The choice to follow Christ would become a strain to family members once one walked away from their dedication to the earthly family and decided to join their new, spiritual family in Christ, the church. But neglecting the earthly family was replaced with the new spiritual family which was stronger in bond. Marriage, child-rearing, and fellowship with one another was to replace all earthly relations.

“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” Matthew 10:34-37.

The scriptures now teach us that husbands and wives should love one another as God loves the church. That would strengthen the family unit to an unbreakable bond. Just as Christ loves the church, His new bride, the husband and wife should love one another and their children the same.

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;” Ephesians 5:25.

“For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.” Ephesians 5:31, 32.

“Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.” Colossians 3:20, 21.

These passages are to help a family strong in the Lord to remain bound together no matter what, as long as they are born again and love one another as Christ does the church. Yet the devil hates this bond because it was the first union of God among humanity. It increases and multiplies constantly if love is the main ingredient.

So, the devil seeks to cause division in the family by turning them against one another. He uses deception, jealousy, lies and miscommunications to achieve his goals. This has caused many divorces, stepfamilies and illegitimate children. He takes babies from their mothers, turn mothers into whores and murderers of their unborn, and he imprisons fathers. All because they are of the earth and not of God. It is important that each member of the family understand God’s will for them instead of them allowing outside influences to cause division.

He seeks to break up the marriage first. He uses temptation and lack of communication between the husband and the wife. He uses lies from the outside, friends, old family members and co-workers to break the bonds of trust, love, and dedication; and if he cannot break the marriage unit, he will go after the kids next.

He uses the influences of the world, peers, temptation through sex, drugs, unbelief and evil communications to corrupt the children and cause them to become disobedient, rebellious, and disrespectful to their parents and siblings. If he can cause strife among the children, he can break the family unit from the backend.

His entire purpose is to break the family of the church because he is jealous of God’s original union of marriage. The church is the bride of Christ, and the believers is His children. Lies, false doctrine and envy is inserted into the body of Christ and disruption begins. It is the same in a household. Therefore, all families must stay on guard to the corruption of the devil and his plans to destroy their family. And they must know that the Lord will deliver them from evil.
