Debunking the 6000-Year-Old Earth Theory

LISTEN HERE -

Many agnostics and atheist argue against the biblical theory of the earth being only 6000 years old. They gravitate toward the theory of evolution by scientific calculations that places the earth’s origin at millions of years old. For those who know the reality of God, we will focus only on the creation theory and at the same time debunking the theory of a 6000-year-old earth.

By biblical calculations and revelation of the Holy Scriptures and Spirit, we are going to use scripture to show that the earth – from its creation to the present - is estimated at most over 12,500 years old. Theologians and biblical scholars teach and believe the earth is 6000 years old from creation to the present, but this is incorrect according to the bible itself.

Some believe different and according to the Young Earth Creationist, they “believe that the creation days of Genesis 1 were six literal (24-hour) days which occurred 6,000–12,000 years ago. They believe that about 2,300–3,300 years before Christ, the surface of the earth was radically rearranged by Noah’s Flood.”

“Archbishop James Ussher in the 17th century, dated the creation to 4004 BC.” But neither of these theories take into consideration that the six days of creation in Genesis were not literal days, but spans of time that humans cannot mentally comprehend. In Genesis 2:4 God says, "These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens."

According to God’s timeline, it took Him one day, “in the day,” to make the earth and the heavens, all in the span of seven generations. If the days are replaced with what a generation is in biblical terms - which is 40 years - it would have taken God 280 years before He was finished with the entire creation. Estimated. This revelation must be taken into consideration instead of interpreting the days to mean literal 24-hour periods.

Also, from the creation of Adam to the birth of Noah must also be considered in calculating an accurate timeline. People lived longer during those days. Adam lived for 930 years, which comprises many generations of humans being born and multiplying. Adding the generations from Adam to Noah would be over 8000 years of men populating the earth. Genesis 5 gives a timeline and the generations born after Adam.

Afterward, God gave Noah the orders to build an ark because men had corrupted themselves and God would send a flood to destroy men and the earth. From the time after the flood to the time of Abraham was 290-plus years. Then we have a record from the book of Matthew that says, “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations." Matthew 1:17.

Adding up the 14 generations times 3 gives 1680 years because a generation during the days of Israel is considered 40 years, but generations between Adam and Noah could have been longer because men lived longer. We do not know. Nor do we know the concept of how long a generation was according to God’s words during the generations He created the heavens and the earth. But for sake of simple calculations, we use 40 years as a generation.

Furthermore, we must add in the 2020-plus years since the birth of Christ which would give us 8900 years from Creation to Noah; 290 years from Noah to Abraham; 1680 years from Abraham to Christ, and 2020-plus years from Christ to the present, which would equal estimated 12,900 years, give or take. And this is within the understanding of the human mind without full understanding of God’s timeline and omnipresence.

Therefore, the Young Earth Creationist estimates are closer to reality than the traditional 6000-year theory from evangelical church leaders. Although the answer is much closer to 12,000 plus years than in between 6 and 12,000 in their calculations. Give or take God’s concept of time and what He meant by “generations,” we can only guess when taking into consideration the generations it took Him to create the heavens and the earth.

As far as scientific theories of geological features (rock layers, fossils, sediment, etc.), and the concept of evolution, for those who know the reality of God, we must look to God’s wisdom as to how long a time age lasted and the evolution of humanity under God’s hand of creation. It is all a mystery and no one can absolutely understand how or when the earth came about and how humanity developed over that period.

Jesus said, “Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Matthew 24:34, 35. We can interpret His words as referring to the generation of humanity as one, and the passing away of the creation all together as one combined generation and prophesy. But His Words are what we should remember always.
