Many MAGA false preachers and Christians are going around spreading a biblical misinterpretation by twisting Jesus’ words of Him saying that He would bring division on earth and not peace. They deceptively use His words to justify the division between political parties, social and racial groups. But of course, they got Christ teachings wrong again.

The passage they use in one instance comes from the gospel of Luke chapter 12, and there is another rendition in St. Matthew chapter 10, but if read together, the message is clearly not talking about social division, but spiritual division between the world and the church; those who follow Christ and those who do not.

St Luke 12:51 reads, “Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: for from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.”

It goes on to speak of a division between sons and fathers, mothers and daughters, and so on, yet the reason they are divided is not because of politics, Democrats vs Republicans or MAGA against Liberals, but the saved and the unsaved; believers and unbelievers.

Many people will leave their families to follow Christ and their family members will become their greatest foes. Jesus says this clearly and says nothing about politics, social cliques, or racial divisions. “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake:” Matthew 10:22. He says because of His name, not because of what political ideology you have or what country you are from.

He also talks about how He will divide the two, which is by using a sword, which is a symbolic image of the Word of God, not an AR15 or any weapon used by man today. But this is what MAGA and conservative radicals would have people to believe in order to justify political violence. “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.” Mat. 10:34.

The fact that supposed Christians cannot interpret this scripture and message of Christ for what it actually means, and they take it and twist it to fit their narrative, says a lot about the foolishness of the Evangelical church today. They believe that people are too stupid to read for themselves or search for the truth.
