As this administration pushes harder against the brown and Black population, more whites are fading fast and blending into their white privilege. They may post, protest, and shout against the horrid treatment of people of color, but at any time they can simply dissolve back into their privileged lives just being white.
They can wear USA merch, speak complete English sentences, and bleach their hair, and never bring attention to themselves. They can sit and watch ICE raids, police brutality, (maybe even sit silently knowing they are the ones who called the police), and they can walk in and out of establishments, shop, sit and eat without being targeted.
The irony is the leadership of this country is targeting brown and Black people and everyone knows the agenda, and no one can deny this is what is happening because the reality is stark and in color. So, white privilege is a comfortable skin to be in right now. This made for television reality show is astounding. If white supremacy had a face, it would mirror the flag of the USA.
They can confidently apply for jobs; continue to get bank loans, walk into a hospital, and get the best treatment, and they can speed on the freeway and most likely not get a ticket. They can walk their dogs in the park, check into hotels and Airbnb’s, rent cars, and fly on airplanes without being noticed. This is their birthright.
They are free to believe whatever news or conspiracy theories they want to and choose to deny or not. Any news has no real bearing on them whatsoever. They are white so everything is about them anyway. They can choose to make a lie the truth. They can vote for corruption and not be blamed. They can cheer on oppression and violence and no one would bat an eye.
People of color do not have that option. They must live their truth. They must suffer the consequences of white choice. They must walk down the street knowing that at any moment they can become a victim to white rage, vengeance, or violence. All is not well in the freest country in the world, the richest, the most civilized; except if you are brown or Black. Whites can always retreat into their privilege.
