Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, there were many posts on the paganism and hypocrisy behind the holiday and how people need to unlearn the lies and remember the truth about the history. This led to remarks about immigration, religious falsehoods, and property rights.

But one post in particular speaks volumes of how the traditional stories told about how Europeans came to occupy this nation has distorted the belief systems of way too many people. Posted on X, one person said that this land was not stolen but it was conquered, which to many who posted afterward felt justified in defending.

There were claims that the indigenous people of the land were savages killing and warring among themselves, and that Europeans came and improved their humanity and civilize their people. Some claimed that there were no written deeds by the indigenous people so they never actually had legal ownership of the land, and some even claimed that the settlers had God-given rights to the land. All elementary theories and self-gratifying reasons to excuse what really happened.

The irony behind these posts is that the lie of this history still persists and has infiltrated the minds of grown folks to this day, and still being taught to children in US schools. That this land was a gift to Europeans in a divine plan of the creator for their valiant and daring explorations of the world. But the truth is in plain sight to those who understand word definitions and are in touch with reality.

Even the dictionary definition of the word conquer reveals that to conquer is to “acquire by force of arms,” which basically means taken from or simply stolen. But this truth has not mentality resonated in the minds of those who have been brainwashed to acknowledge the reality of truth. These are people who would rather live inside the lies and fables of American settlers and their ideals of world conquest and heroic exploration.

This same story can and has been told around the world of how Europeans have brought civilization to multiple countries and peoples who were living below the advancements of European lifestyles. Regardless of how any nation was living, the Europeans brought more death and destruction to indigenous people than they did civility. Their problem is they never understood how to relate to other cultures and decided to destroy them instead of initiating human fellowship.
