How the World Infiltrated the Church Through Gospel Pop, Rock, and Rap Music

The Bible encourages the worship of God through singing and music in many passages of the scriptures. Psalms 57:7,8 reads: “I will sing and give praise…awake, psaltery and harp:” And in Ephesians 5:19 it reads: “speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;”

There is nothing wrong with praising the Lord through music and song, however, there is a difference between acceptable praise worship and secular worship of the Lord. Not to say that secular forms of worship are sinful, but it invites the world into the church and the world brings the devil along.

Church leaders believe that attracting the world with secular forms of gospel music is a way to win the world to Christ, but they fail to realize that many people come for the secular worship with no real intentions of knowing Christ. Jesus knew the hearts of people and called them out when they sought for him for their own selfish reasons and not for him alone.

“Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.” St. John 6:26, 27.

Secular forms of gospel music hinge on a thin line of secular music that wraps the vibes of worldly worship and praise into the worship of Christ. The people who sought for Jesus in St. John were seeking to fill their own lust of eating instead of following Christ for the miracles He did. This is the same thing people of the world do today, they seek the vibrations of secular music while praising the Lord in the lyrics.

Gospel Pop, Rock, and Rap all offer the secular vibrations of the world along with the words, but the words are not penetrating the people like they should. Only the music penetrates them. Gospel musicians convince themselves that there is nothing wrong with this type of worship without considering that many people are actually only there for the music, not the word and will of God.

“A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.” 1 Corinthians 5:6. This means that if the smallest amount of sin enters into the church, it will eventually corrupt the whole church. Gospel musicians have emulated the secular music world with beats, videos, stage performances and artist who pass off a vibe of worldly music and the congregation can be seen dancing demonic and ungodly secular dances to the beat and rhythm of the music.

With this infiltration, new members bring fleshly lusts into the church, gossip, drama, pleasures and mentalities of carnality and it spreads to other members, the children, and eventually the pastor.

It takes a man of God who sees the heart of the people like Jesus does to know when He is being infiltrated by the world and to know how to cut it off at the entrance. There is an acceptable form of praise and worship and there is an unacceptable form. Preachers should take note and have a good report of those individuals they draw into the church through music to make sure they understand the Love of Christ and His purpose for their salvation.
