True Believers Should Not Vote or Seek to Make Laws

The old saying is, “vote for the lesser of the two evils,” but if you are a Christian, or a person that votes based on morality, understand that neither political party are worthy. The scripture says; “neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.” 1 Timothy 5:22. This means if anyone shows support of either political party, they are partaking in their sins. What sins?

If man institutes laws into society that go against the will of God, they have defiled that society and can expect the repercussions of those sins in return. Believers of Christ should not participate in politics; today, we see the consequences of what can happen when men try to institute God’s law into secular society, especially if they institute certain laws of God and leave others untouched. 

Only false Christians partake in worldly politics because they lack trust in God and rather trust in man, money, and power of the world; all things Satan has offered them in exchange for their worship. Therefore, they write laws in place of spiritual transformation. Neither do they have the understanding of the consequences of the laws they write because they cannot foresee the future. And if they have no solutions for the repercussions of those laws and make no effort to correct themselves, then they have transgressed against God in more ways than one, by being willfully defiant of his laws.

Both political parties are guilty of transgressing God’s laws by passing their own laws that directly contradict his will, so it is illogical and moot to vote for either party based on which is less sinful than the other. The sins of the Democrats are immoral sins that are contrary to the natural order of God’s will for humanity, and the sins of the Republicans are cruel toward the same humanity that God created. Nevertheless, sin is sin, regardless of under what circumstances and how it is enacted by man.

Besides, there is no scripture that commands or encourages believers to vote or politically support the candidates who run for public office. Many preachers and teachers will find scriptures that they claim support voting, but those scriptures can easily be refuted because there is none that directly encourage people to vote. One scripture they use in particular comes from St. Matt. 22:21 and reads: “Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which are Cæsar's; and unto God the things that are God's.”

They claim Jesus is giving people the right to vote but it says nothing about voting, it is talking about paying taxes. Jesus says; “Shew me the tribute money.” vv 19. This means economics, not politics. He says people should pay tribute (taxes) to Caesar and give to God what He requires. The scripture clearly states that “My kingdom is not of this world:” John 18:36, therefore, the Lord is not requiring people to build His kingdom in this world. That is His job, not ours. Church leaders who are convincing people to take control over the government are out of the will of God.

As believers, we are to reprove the world of sin, John 16:8, not contribute to it by cheering on men who are writing laws they think God will honor. The Old Testament were laws written to control the land of Israel and whoever came into the camp. It was given to Israel; and not the rest of the tribes of the earth. Other nations worshipped other gods and did not honor the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. Today, we honor Christ and His commandments from the New Testament, which does not command we take over the land, but preach the gospel only.

Sins of the Democrats

Abortion: Any woman and man that consciously decide to end the potential life of a child while it is still in the woman’s womb at any given point, and has a chance at living, is committing murder of that life. The child has lost the gift of life from God. This is a conscious sin. If the woman miscarries, however, this is an act of God and the woman cannot be held responsible for the death of the child. Politicians that equate a miscarriage with abortion are wrong and have no understanding of God’s plan for human life.

If a woman is pregnant and loses the baby as a result of an accident or because she is attacked by another, she is not responsible for the death of the baby, but the person who attacked her is and should be punished. If the woman is raped or is the victim of incest and gets pregnant, she should not abort the baby and the rapist must be found and forced to support her and the child the rest of their life. If she does not want the baby, she should give it up for adoption or to the state, and the rapist should be punished.

Gay Marriage and Homosexuality: The Democrats are not the originators of homosexuality, which is a sin of ancient times. But they are responsible for legalizing the unnatural act of gay marriage, which allows people of the same sex to be married. This is considered partaking in the sins of other men. Marriage is God’s first sacred union among humanity and should not be mocked or altered to fit the concept of men. Marriage is between a male and a female because they are the only union that can reproduce another human being; being fruitful and multiply.

Many say that love is the ultimate decider and that God is love so He should not have a problem with who gets married, as long as they love each other. This is not sound reasoning because the purpose of marriage is not just for companionship, but to reproduce. If a married couple cannot reproduce, they are not justifiably married in the eyes of God. Homosexuality also sends confusing signals to children as to the purpose of families, father and motherhood, realities of nature that man cannot and should not change.

Sins of the Republicans

Gun culture: The Republicans have transgressed God’s law by giving political authority to the 2nd amendment that gives millions of people the right to openly carry a gun and ignoring God’s commandment on murder, and to “Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” Matt. 26:25. This legal right increases the chances of innocent people being murdered in society, which is happening everyday and takes the concept of murder from abortion to another level. This is murder of the life that already lives and not to be diminished against the life of the unborn. There is no difference, murder is murder. In addition, neither is murder by police officers or the military justified by God. Again, murder is murder.

Legalized bribery: The Republicans have written laws that makes it legal for wealthy individuals to give money to the politician of their choice in hopes of getting laws passed in their favor. This is against God’s law. “And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.” 1 Samuel 8:3. “For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.” Amos 5:12.

Oppression of refugees and the poor: The Republican Party is famous for passing policies for the oppression of anyone that does not fit into their social box, which is fueled by the spirit of hate of the “other.” They withhold from the poor, withhold rights from others, and they persecute refugees that seek asylum and they instead write laws to protect and support the wealthy more than the poor.  “The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.” Ezekiel 22:29.

In addition to the above sins of both parties, they both share in many other sins against God’s law and will for humanity. They both support wars around the world, which includes murder and theft of other nation’s land and resources. They both support unjust imprisonment and slave labor, the public programming and theatrics of adultery and fornication, racial oppression, media lies through propaganda, debt peonage of the poor, depriving people of the necessities of life, drug sells and usage and many forms of idolatry, such as the love of money.

Support of either political party means support of the above sins that are directly and indirectly legal and rampant in society. There is no middle ground, and anyone who pledges their support of and money to either party are responsible for the tragedies these sins wreak on the people and society, which brings judgment of God on the nation. The only solution for a nation dying of these sins is truth, righteousness, and peace for all. Vote for Jesus instead, who should be on every ballot.

The only participation of a believer into worldly politics would follow the scripture below, which is a commandment of the Lord. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Timothy 2:1-4.
