Black teachers are suing the Beverly Hills High school for not addressing deliberate racism from its students. Of course, the staff claims innocence as if their hands are tied and respond with “they do not have any evidence of racism.” But this is because they have not properly investigated the issue.
They have secured any efforts to contact the school staff on its website about this and have closed replies on their Facebook page. Even the news site that reported on the issues had to close the comment section because of its insults toward those suing. This is all an effort to escape accountability and to hide from the problem of bigotry in this country.
Beverly Hills High school is the school where dozens of students marched through the halls shouting racial slurs and threatened Black and Latino students the day after trump was reelected. There is video of this and other situations of racism such as racist graffiti on bathroom walls and slurs heard in public against Black and brown students and teachers.
This school is probably filled with privileged kids whose parents are wealthy, arrogant, and closet bigots who feel they do not have to answer to anything their kids do, regardless of how disgusting it is. The school staff are probably the same, white privileged people who are indifferent toward race relations.
Most disgusting were the comments under the article from people who seem to believe free speech includes insults and ignorant behavior and that Blacks and other non-whites just have to get used to it, which is not going to happen. They want the right to call people names without consequence but they need to be reminded this is not the 1950s and people are fed up with their ignorance.
Many comments were accusing the Black teachers of seeking money from the law suit excluding the fact that they have good reason to bring a suit. Kids should be able to go to school and learn, not be subject to racial attacks by kids who have learned nothing but hate from their parents and the current political climate. They say kids will be kids and Blacks should overlook their behavior but they do not realize that kids form impressions of the world around them and will have no problem seeing whites as aggressive, ignorant, and privileged for the rest of their lives.
The school should be sued and the parents should be reprimanded because they are advancing the legacy of racism and ignorance and the school staff should be called out and put on blast for their incompetence and same level of ignorance.
Insulting people is not free speech, it is a show of disrespect toward others, neglectful child rearing, and stupidity on behalf of grown folks who need a lesson on history, regardless of how many books they ban on the history of racism in this country. This is a show of complete irresponsibility and cowardness.
