When you fall during a senate lunch, it is time to retire, and the rest of the old cohorts need to go also. As of October 2023, five of the oldest current members of the U.S. Congress range from 82 years-old (Mitch McConnell), to Dianne Feinstein 91 years-old. These people along with a few others in their eighties and nineties, need to turn over the reins of leadership to another generation.
It is they who have brought this country to the brink of destruction as they have done nothing for the people they represent and have currently turned the country over to oligarchs, of who a few of them are guilty. Years of public service and not one can claim a victory for the people if the people are suffering under the rule of a few greedy, wealthy folks and there are thousands of homeless around the country.
Maybe fresh ideas that actually help the people will make this country livable again instead of the false hope of it being great again. First make it livable. Policies should be written that favor the working class instead of catering to the upper elitist class of whom most of them live and serve. These people are not of the working class, they live lavish lives and are so far out of touch with the people they cannot see the damage they have done and have nerve to blame the people for their hardships and poverty.
They should become consultants or advisors to a younger generation of leaders who actually understand the plight of the working class, although the new generation should not listen too closely seeing we have fallen from grace and prosperity. They have ruined this country with their refusal to leave office and their insistence on enforcing their outdated policies and decorum that has failed year after decade. And have nerve to push retirement ages on the public at 67 but refuse to retire themselves.
Please, enforce term limits on how long a person can stay in office or at least a retirement age, and always provide new ideas that are in touch with the needs of the people and not the greed of the wealthy and those who play the game of stock market roulette. They measure the economy on the rise and fall of the Dow and they get rich but neglect and ignore the prices at the local supermarkets and gas stations. Get these old fools out of office.
Go home and go to bed.
