Social media, specifically Facebook, started limiting user views by their friends back in the late 2000s. For instance, if you had 500 friends all 500 could see your post every time, but at some point, when you posted, only 50 could see your post and it had nothing to do with politics, censorship, or free speech. It was all a ploy to get people to pay so their friends could see their post.
They are lying and people are worried about the wrong thing in Facebook’s latest move to stop fact checking. They just want money and for people to pay them for their post to be seen. Then the government got involved in politics after Obama got elected and they realized how popular social media was and how they could use it for campaigning and raising money.
Once politicians began to use social media, the war of words started and the left and the right found ways to propagandize posting under the rules of free speech, censorship, and at one time cancel culture. This is all lies and ways to drain people of their money. Facebook and now the newer social media platforms all use the same algorithm to shadow ban users until they fork up money to be seen or pay monthly fees.
People need to resign from using social media and retreat back to conventional ways of communication, unless they have businesses and want to advertise. But the free speech wars are nothing but hype to stir the pot of hate speech, political propaganda, and of course, making the billionaires richer. It is not that serious and people must not allow these cyber bot patrols and fake profiles get them heated about nothing but computer celebrity of likes and follows.
