This is an American story. An American authority figure concluded that the ability for anyone to carry a gun has evidently led to too many others being killed by senseless gun fire. On the other hand, staunch patriots of the Constitution believe everyone has a right to carry a gun.
The US is at a sad state of political and cultural affairs as it pertains to guns, rights and life. “A gun rights group sued New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) and other state officials on Saturday over an emergency order banning firearms from being carried in public in Albuquerque.
The National Association for Gun Rights, alongside Albuquerque resident Foster Haines, filed suit just one day after Grisham announced the public health order temporarily suspending concealed and open carry laws in the city.”
The problem is that not everyone has taken their constitutional rights to heart as the patriots have; because some people choose not to carry a gun. Patriots claim that they and other enthusiast are responsible gun owners, however, if being responsible means that a person has the self-control and good judgment to carry, then responsible gun owners should also have the intellectual insight to understand that not everyone has the same self-control or motives. Unfortunately, the gun enthusiast just as well ignore the damage done by guns to selfishly uphold their rights.
Statistics are showing that gun violence has increased in the battle for gun rights and the many open carry laws contribute to that violence for the simple reason that not everyone has the same motives or self-control. Some people are criminal minded, some are violent by nature, and some are negligent, irresponsible, and plain careless with their guns.
Children get guns from their parent’s room and take them to school. Parents buy their children guns for their birthdays and special occasions in an attempt to teach them to respect and protect their second amendment rights. But they unwittingly disregard the fact that someone might be killed in the near future as a result of their devotion to their rights and not to the lives of others.
The gun rights group and the resident are more concerned about upholding the right to carry a gun than the fact that people are being killed more often in their town. There is a breakdown in human compassion and an idolatrous love for man-made ideologies that collide with the right to life. This show of indifference testifies to the lack of critical thinking skills this country has.
