He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
(Meaning) – He has rejected important laws that are crucial for the public good. He has also directed his Governors not to pass essential laws unless they are put on hold until he approves them. Even when these laws are on hold, he totally ignores them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
(Meaning) – He won’t create new laws to help large groups of people unless they give up their right to representation in the legislature, a right that’s incredibly valuable to them and scary to tyrants.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
(Meaning) – He has summoned legislative bodies to locations that are strange, inconvenient, and far from where their public records are kept, just to wear them down into agreeing with what he wants.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.
(Meaning) – He has pretended to make the military independent from and more powerful than the civilian government.
The people have the power over the government and we can take it back if we want to. We no longer live under a King; we are free men and women under God.
