Of all the ridiculous excuses for the reason of things, CEO of Kroger says they had to raise prices on foods because retailers and suppliers have increased cost of things. Here comes the chicken and the egg argument.
“Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen attributed rising grocery prices to increasing costs for retailers…McMullen cited rising supplier costs, fuel prices and credit card swipe fees when asked by the company’s lawyer why prices have risen.”
It seems the country has an unsolvable problem that may never go away. If businesses keep raising their prices, then others will have to raise their prices also. So, when does it end? “Soaring food prices, which have become a hot button political issue in the U.S. presidential race, have risen 25% between 2019 and 2023, faster than other consumer goods and services, U.S. Department of Agriculture statistics showed.”
How can an economy survive or reach an affordable balance when everyone keeps raising prices? It is a never-ending process that have apparently become an excuse to, keep raising prices. What a scam by the greed of men like McMullen.
There needs to be a discussion with not only grocery chains, but apparently oil and fuel companies, banks and credit card distributors, and suppliers of everything else. People have noticed that not only are food prices high, but other services such as car repairs, electronics, home goods and even pet goods. Everything is higher, because the cost is more.
Someone has to stop raising their prices if the economy is to return to a normal, affordable standard of living. Stop the lies and gaslighting of the people and take root in the real problem, which is corporate greed in every area of the economy.
