The state of Oklahoma has proposed a new Bible initiative to introduce Bibles into every classroom in the state. “The approved budget includes an additional $3 million that will be used to purchase Bibles for all classrooms in the state.”

While some Christians may be praising God for Bibles going into every classroom in Oklahoma, this money could be used for Christian purposes instead of a lesson plan, or for context in American history as the state Superintendent Ryan Waters claim it will be used for.

This is not wise stewardship with God’s money. This money could be used for feeding the children in real time, purchasing supplies for teachers and their classrooms, and maybe increasing teacher salaries instead. The church and the family unit are supposed to provide lessons on God while the educational system is supposed to provide lesson of reading, writing, and math for our children.

On top of the Superintendent asking for 3 million dollars for Bibles, he is asking for an additional “$500,000 that will be used to fund training for school district personnel to be able to carry a concealed firearm on campus, and $1 million that will be used to fund recruitment and signing bonuses for law enforcement and veterans.”

These additions are also allotted in the wrong direction because not all school district personnel or teachers want to carry a gun and not all law enforcement and veterans have the time to patrol schools when the streets have much more crime to attend to.

The problem with this whole thing is that if churches were successful in educating people on God and family values was such a hit with the conservative party, why do they need to extend religion into the schools, and what makes them believe it will work any better coming from teachers instead of pastors and parents?

This is a complete waste of time and an arrogant flex of Christian nationalism coming from a MAGA nationalist who has his priorities all mixed up.
