The shooting incident at the Lakewood megachurch in Texas is the result of church leader’s open invitation to the 2nd amendment gun culture. More pastors have signed on to supporting the gun culture and hired private security to protect against a nation obsessed with guns.
But there is so many things wrong with this situation on three different levels: social, political, and religious.
Socially, the female shooter (who has been identified as a trans), was in the process of a custody battle with her ex after a divorce and she was apparently having mental health issues because of the breakup. This is a failure of the mental health system, the court system, and her social circle of friends and family., because no one has any real answers for someone going through this type of social breakdown, neither could the church help her, which shows a breakdown of the church culture.

According to reports, “A woman, Genesse Ivonne Moreno, 36, who walked into a popular Texas megachurch Sunday afternoon with a long gun and her 7-year-old son opened fire before she was killed by law enforcement officers on scene. The gunfire left the child in critical condition and another man injured, officials said.
Officers “shot and killed her in self-defense” after she pointed her weapon at them, according to the search warrant released Monday by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.”
On the political level, the church has begun to follow after the trends of the world and accept the gun culture, openly teaching that people should carry guns for protection. Preachers themselves, stand in the pulpits showing their guns and encouraging the congregation to embrace the gun culture also, basically because it is legal under man’s law.
But Jesus never said this was acceptable at all. He told Peter to, “Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” Matt. 26:25. Many preachers teach that carrying a gun is equal to carrying a sword in the Bible. The scripture they use to justify this is in the gospels, St Luke 22.36 says, “and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”
Nevertheless, the off-duty police officers who killed the woman will not be justified by God on judgment day. They will be considered murderers if they do not repent of their sins with godly sorrow. This does not mean just saying I’m sorry to God, it means sincerely repenting of the murder they have done. Yes, it is legal by man’s law of self-defense, but it is still against God’s law.
“The shooter used an AR-15 that had “Free Palestine” written on it, according to a federal law enforcement source. Investigators are trying to determine whether she was politically motivated or a disturbed individual, the source said.”
How stupid is this investigation. Of course, it was political if “Free Palestine,” was printed on the weapon. The politics of war and the gun culture is a transgression against God’s law but somehow justified by man’s law. The fact that this pastor has succumb to the laws and ordinances of the world is shameful. The church is protected against such evil if the pastor understands how God works. Apparently, this guy does not.
“We’re devastated,” Osteen said. “We’ve been here 65 years and to have somebody shooting at your church…” Oh really. Why would that be? Because the gun culture is a fairly recent evil placed on society and all religious leaders who support this evil is exempt from God’s protection. They preach about abortion and homosexuality, but have left off the sins of murder, adultery, and idolatry of the world.
