If it is hard to understand why so many people still support the 45th president despite his multiple offenses against society, and why they refuse to admit they made the wrong choice and atone for their mistake, the answer has a psychological and a spiritual explanation.
Many people have given up trying to reason with MAGA voters using every inch of logic, facts, and eye-witness examples on video they can, but these people insist they are right and will double down on their dedication and undying love for their chosen leader and terrestrial savior, even to the point of believing and defending a lie.
Now, people are beginning to question whether this loyalty is a textbook case of a cultic group so blind to reality it has led to people dying, and may take divine intervention to break the yoke of indoctrination. The stronghold this man has on these people is explained in the Bible in an experience of one of the kings of Israel named King Saul, who had the kingdom stripped from his hand because he disobeyed God.
This theory captures the essence of the religious right and the consciences of the conservative voter as to why they cannot seem to break free from the stronghold of this cultist mentality. If we take to heart the false prophesy of the religious zealots who said that the 45th president was anointed through the book of Isaiah chapter 45 in the persona of Cyrus, then this is where they and 45 made their mistake.
Cyrus was commissioned by God to perform the pleasures of God for His people. Did 45 do this? No, he accomplished none of his policies and instead gave tax cuts to the wealthy, and enriched himself and caused chaos among the nations and throughout the country. He opened the doors of conflict, hate, fascism and criminality. He even defied the fake god prophesy, so the kingdom was stripped from his hand and given to another. Which takes us to the pseudo-psychology of King Saul as represented by 45 and is closer to what really happened.
Saul was appointed King by God and was tasked to “destroy the sinners the Amalekites and fight against them until they were consumed.” 1 Samuel 15:18. (We assume the Amalekites are the Democrats, or Muslims or whoever). And he was told by God not to take anything from their lands, no material possessions such as sheep, oxen or any spoils. Saul went into their land and destroyed the people but he captured their king instead of destroying him, and Saul’s people took the spoils anyway.
This angered God so he sent Samuel with a message for Saul. Samuel told Saul that God is more pleased with obedience than he is with sacrifices. Saul believed that if he offered the spoils to God, it would please him. (You cannot take photo-shoots with the Bible during authoritarian behavior or create a bible and offer it to God for atonement). “…and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.” Verse 35. So, God ripped the kingdom from the hand of Saul and appointed another as king.
“Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, He hath also rejected thee from being king.” 1 Samuel 15:22,23.
To God, Saul’s rebellion against His orders equated to witchcraft; and his stubbornness in making things right and instead allowing the people to convince him to sacrifice the spoils was equivalent to idolatry. They cared more about the material things of the world and the glory of victory than obeying the voice and Word of God.
In reality, when a leader is given a direct task and instructions to complete, they are responsible for getting it done and leading the people to task. If they use that power to their own benefit, it is considered rebellion against authority and the attempt to enrich themselves make the task dishonest and depraved. It is a transgression against society and to the people they are there to represent.
However, when that leader refuses to admit they are wrong in any sense and remain stubborn and adamant in their stance of defiance, this sends forth a message to the followers to stand against what is right and true. When a stance is taken against the moral base of the ethics of righteousness and truth, it conjures up a spirit that engulfs them all that will not allow them to admit wrong or acknowledge the truth; rebellion and stubbornness, equals witchcraft and idolatry.
