America’s obsession with guns has increased in the last 20 years. From citizen gun ownership to being able to carry a concealed weapon (with or without a permit), to the paramilitary-armed police forces throughout the country, America has become a country of armed paranoids.

Based on production data from firearm manufacturers, there are about 393 million privately owned firearms in the US: the United States population is 319 million people. In 2021, about 42 percent of U.S. households had at least one gun in their possession. That is almost half the country. [Source: Ref.] Gun sells exploded after Obama got elected.

The number one reason people have guns, according to further data, is for self-defense. “Two-thirds of gun owners cite protection as a major reason for owning a gun.” It stands to reason then, that there must be an overwhelming or immediate threat to justify carrying a gun around all day, every day. Depending on the neighborhood, the environment, or the situation, the United States should be classified as a war zone if the threat justified the stats.

Fortunately, violent crime in America has dropped. Today, the national crime rate is about half of what it was at its height in 1991. Violent crime has fallen by 51 percent since 1991, and property crime by 43 percent. In 2013 the violent crime rate was the lowest since 1970. [Source: Ref.]

So why has the gun culture flourished recently?

Propaganda though the news media who spread fear, dissent, and suspension is the main reason. People would not know of any supposed imminent threats and would not be as paranoid if the information was not widespread, such as it is through the national media. Also, greedy industrialist gun manufactures instill fear into society by promoting these same insecurities and fabricated threats to national security.

Afterward, law makers and politicians are seduced by the promises of profit and there we have an extreme gun culture; and needless to say, a more dangerous society. Common sense says that more guns equal more murders and shooting, not less. If there were no guns, there would be less murder and less threats to defend against. The only organization in any society that should have guns is the military to defend against outside invasion. The police are questionable.

The idea that guns prevent crime is equivalent to saying cigarettes prevent cancer. Cigarettes are a major contributor to cancer and so are guns to crime, mass shootings and murders. If there were no cigarettes, there would be less cancer. This is common logic. However, capitalists’ twisted teaching would have people believe that cigarettes do not cause cancer so buy more cigarettes. When gun manufactures can admit that guns cause more crime, then society will be able to rest easier.

Fear of death is a natural fear in all humans. With millions more people carrying guns openly, that fear increases and so does paranoia. This does not make for a peaceful and secure society; it makes for a culture of suppressed and cowardly people. It is the making of an authoritarian society where any and everyone have the ability to take another life regardless of the circumstances. It diminishes justice, equality, and freedom and compresses people under the rule of individual vengeance and personal vendettas.

People feel the need to protect themselves not only against what they deem as a criminal society, but now more so against those who are carrying guns just for the sake of it. No one knows who will snap at any given moment and would rather be prepared when and if it ever happens. Some people carry guns with some diluted fantasy of stopping a crime when they see it – a form of rogue vigilantism – which leaves the lives of possible innocent victims to the discretion of a paranoid creep.

Furthermore, carrying a gun increases your chances of death by 50%, not to mention going to jail. It is more likely that if you pull a gun on someone who has a gun, you will be shot. If you pull a gun on police, you will be shot. If you pull a gun and do not use it, you will be shot, and if you are mistaken for being a criminal, you will be shot. On the other hand, if you never carry a gun, none of those things are more likely to happen, because your chance of being shot by anyone are the same as being hit by lightening.

In other words, if you leave your house looking for trouble, eventually you will find it if you have a gun. Furthermore, if you have done nothing that would warrant someone using a gun on you, then you have nothing to worry about. If you fear death, carrying a gun will not lessen that fear, it will only increase your chances of dying. Keeping a gun in the house seems logical in case of a home invasion, but who has promoted the concept of home invasion the most? The media and Hollywood.

If someone comes into your house uninvited and threatens to kill you and your entire family, a shootout will occur. If you prevail, you are now a murderer, regardless of what the courts say. You are not a hero, you are a murderer according to God’s law. If you do not believe in God and the divine laws of life, then the gun culture is made for you. But you will always live in fear: the fear of death and of crime and of the lies of the media.

The fact that American society has given way to this sort of disordered society says a lot about the culture of greed and selfishness than it ever could about justice and freedom. As long as the gun culture increases, American society can expect more murders of children by children, more by family members killing one another, and more racist acts of violence toward innocent people, as opposed to a drop in crime by way of enhanced vigilantism.
